About The Academy
The Academy gives people who are out of work or short on experience a place to volunteer on real early-stage web projects, with a mentor who knows them well.
Who runs it
The Academy is run by Raven Design, the small studio behind Built In Ireland, PubHub and MyID, which are the projects you can volunteer on. Your mentor is Brian, who runs those projects and knows their history. Contact: hello@theacademy.ie.
What changed in September 2026
This site used to advertise "Cohort 1": a four-week cohort that would start once eight people signed up. It never started. We've replaced it with something simpler and more flexible. You volunteer on a project you choose, at your own pace, with no deadlines. We've also retired the old pages about cohorts, tracks, mentors and graduates. Nobody has volunteered with us yet, so there are no past volunteers or references to show.
